Austin is musically weird along with everything else: improvisation, electric experimentation, and psychedelic detours in every direction. Found Family Fest puts five of the city's boldest bands in one East Austin backyard for an afternoon of jazz fusion, funk, and prog with a psychedelic streak. Come early, grab a drink, and find your people.

The lineup

Dodo (3:00). Austin prog-fusion led by keyboardist Sam Blomgren. Their electric, exploratory sound nods to Miles Davis, Herbie Hancock, and Chick Corea, with improvisation at the center.

Lido (4:00). The fusion project of Houston-born drummer and producer Isaac Pulido, a rising Austin bandleader. Lido blends live jazz, hip hop, electronic, and neo-soul, and Pulido has recorded and performed with a range of Austin artists, in the studio and on stage.

Dogged (5:00). [Blurb needed.]

Blue Tongue (6:00). Austin's jazz-funk-rock septet. Their fusion grooves are the kind you can't stop moving to, and their debut album is out now.

Progger (7:00). Our headliners. This instrumental band started as a south Austin jam session in 2011 and grew into a cross-country crew of composers and players. They are led by Oscar-nominated saxophonist and keyboardist Brian Donohoe, and they've shared stages with Parliament-Funkadelic and Snarky Puppy. They'll bring music from their new album, Chronology, recorded in East Austin.
